On this page you will learn what are the hardware and software requirements to be able to use the MSP Challenge Simulation Platform.

ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE CURRENTLY SET ACCORDING TO TESTS RUN ON AVAILABLE HARDWARE, IT MIGHT BE POSSIBLE TO RUN ON DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF WINDOWS, AND LOWER-STRENGTH CPU AND MEMORY, HOWEVER THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED.

Server Requirements

Hardware

Hardware of (slightly) lower standards is not necessarily a problem,as long as there is plenty of CPU and RAM actually available when running all the server applications

Windows
Operating System Windows 10
CPU i7-7600HQ
Memory 16 GB RAM
Free Space 50 GB
Graphics Hardware Not Necessary
Sound Hardware Not Necessary
Networking Cabled (UTP) or Wireless (WIFI)

We recommend setting up a local area network using your own (Wifi) router to which your MSP Challenge server and clients connect. This gives you full control and reduces risks of e.g. network congestion or strict network security policies

Software

  • Python 2.7.9 or Higher
  • XAMPP 5.6.28
  • .NET Framework 4.6

The software is also available via the MSP Challenge Server Installer.

Client Requirements

Hardware

Hardware of (slightly) lower standards is not necessarily a problem,as long as there is plenty of CPU and RAM actually available when running all the server applications

Windows
Operating System Windows 10
CPU i 7600HQ
Memory 16 GB RAM
Free Space 5 GB
Graphics Hardware Not Necessary
Sound Hardware Not Necessary
Networking Cabled (UTP) or Wireless (WIFI)

Software

No additional software is required, only the MSP Challenge client is necessary.

Peripherals

It is recommanded to use a Keyboard and Mouse to navigate the client and server. While it is possible to use a trackpad, the experience will be severely limited by the limitations of such peripheral.
